It all started with a hash tag. #withwomanwithcoffee. My “sign off” appeared in the second half of 2015 as a lighthearted jab at the adrenal fatiguing lifestyle of birth keeping and mothering three children whilst managing to keep my head above the tide of all other normal life happenings. Since then, it’s followed my personal progress of birth related introspection, academic upgrading, university application submissions and my personal, professional and spiritual growth towards really and truly entering the realm of full spectrum midwifery.
Welcome to #With Woman With Coffee. I hope you find my ramblings, musings and honesty warming to your own tired and hopeful soul. Birth work is many things to many people. In my lived experience, it is inspiring, exhausting, fulfilling, challenging, devastating and enlightening. It is a lesson in patience, diplomacy, politics, rights and responsibilities. It has challenged deeply held convictions, and has forced personal self growth through cyclical upheavals and brief, yet deeply felt moments of peaceful understanding. It has been the hardest and easiest place to be.
I’m a mother, a midwifery student, a fledgling herbalist, a feminist, advocate and an ally.
I’m glad to have you here, walking along beside me. Grab yourself a cup of coffee too, it’s going to be a long road.
